Scrum Product Owner Test
About the test
The Scrum Product Owner test uses work-sample questions to examine candidates' ability to effectively manage and define the work necessary to achieve a business's software development goals using Scrum methodology.
The key areas assessed in the test include:
- Maximizing value to ensure a strong return on investment.
- Product backlog management to prioritize work effectively.
- Conducting Scrum meetings to ensure transparency, goal alignment, and progress.
Roles such as Scrum Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Project Manager in a Scrum environment all need a solid understanding of how the Scrum Product Owner’s role and responsibilities can be skillfully performed to optimize team effectiveness.
Sample public questions
The Scrum Team is designing a website for a clothing startup, ClothesStreet. The company's product manager for the website asks the Product Owner to add a new feature. He says ClotheStreet's CEO wants customers to be able to post photos of themselves wearing the company's fashions.
How should the Product Owner handle the request?
During a Sprint Planning Meeting, the developers disagree with the Product Backlog items that the Product Owner suggests are valuable for the next Sprint. The items, they say, will have new technical problems to solve and so take longer to do. Instead, for efficiency, they prefer working on items similar to those they found solutions for in the previous Sprint.
Without violating Scrum methodology, how should the Product Owner try to resolve the disagreement?
During a stakeholder meeting, a customer tells the Product Owner that delivered features sometimes differ in minor ways from what he expected from the Product Backlog. He says, for example, that once a feature had a different font in an early mockup of the feature. The developers explain that during the Sprint they needed to change it to a web safe font that was similar to the one in the mockup so it would work in a wide variety of browsers as intended.

What others say
Simple, straight-forward technical testing
TestDome is simple, provides a reasonable (though not extensive) battery of tests to choose from, and doesn't take the candidate an inordinate amount of time. It also simulates working pressure with the time limits.
