About the test

The Django online test assesses knowledge of creating web applications with the Django web framework. This test includes live coding tasks in the Python programming language as it is required for creating Django applications.

The assessment includes work-sample tasks such as:

  • Creating models, templates, and views to display data.
  • Understanding and modifying URL routes.
  • Implementing a function that serializes to/from JSON.

A good Django developer needs a solid understanding of the Python programming language and commonly used aspects of the Django framework in order to create robust, scalable, and user-friendly web applications.

A gaming company is working on a platformer game. They need a function that will compute the character's final speed, given a map and a starting speed.

The terrain on which the game character moves forward is made from various pieces of land placed together. Implement the function calculate_final_speed which takes the initial speed of the character, and an array of degrees of inclination that represent the uneven terrain.

The speed of the character will increase or decrease proportionally to the incline of the land, as shown in the image below:

Image showing the increase and decrease of character speed.

The magnitude of the angle of inclination will always be < 90°. The speed change occurs only once for each piece of land. The function should immediately return 0 as the final speed if an incline reduces the speed to 0 or below 0, which makes the character lose 1 life.

For example, the below code:

print(calculate_final_speed(60, [0, 30, 0, -45, 0]))

should print:

An online learning platform allows users to choose courses taught by teachers. A teacher can teach one or more courses. The models below are used to handle the teacher and the courses they have:

from django.db import models

class Teacher(models.Model):
    name = models.CharField(max_length=200)
    contact = models.CharField(max_length=200)

    def __str__(self):
        return self.name

class Course(models.Model):
    teacher = models.ForeignKey(Teacher, on_delete=models.CASCADE)
    course_name = models.CharField(max_length=200)
    rating = models.IntegerField(default=0)

    def __str__(self):
        return self.course_name

Which options will be correct for the model methods and the database operations with the models?

Decorative quote

Simple, straight-forward technical testing

TestDome is simple, provides a reasonable (though not extensive) battery of tests to choose from, and doesn't take the candidate an inordinate amount of time. It also simulates working pressure with the time limits.
